Jalandhar DC orders inspection of development works carried out under Smart Village Campaign
Expresses displeasure over delay in submission of UCs

Taking note of the delay in submission of Utilization Certificates (UCs), Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Thursday instructed that all the ongoing development works would be inspected in days to come.
The Deputy Commissioner said he and ADC (D) Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa would personally visit the sites to take stock of the status of the works being carried out under the Smart Village Campaign (SVC) in the district.
Presiding over a meeting to review the status of the Smart Village Campaign at the district administrative complex, the Deputy Commissioner said that a total of 962 development works were initiated at the cost of Rs 43.17 crore during SVC Phase-1 in the district and UCs were submitted of entire grant incurred on these works. He further said that similarly under SVC Phase-II, Rs 159.75 crore were released for 3086 development works in the district.
Thori said UCs of only Rs 37.07 crores were received by the administration under SVC Phase-II. He said that it was really surprising on the part of the officials why there was delay in submitting the UCs.
He also took stock of progress made in the Adampur flyover, Adampur Airport road, and Bhogpur-Kartarpur Sewage projects and directed the officials concerned to visit the sites daily to expedite construction by the contractors.
Meanwhile, Thori also reviewed the court case pendency, mutations, jamabandi consignments, digitization of Musavis, flood protection works, Punjab Urban Environment Improvement Program (PUEIP), Covid vaccination program, smart classes program, mid-day meal scheme, Samagra and initiatives taken by Agriculture Department in recent times.
Prominent present on the occasion included ADCs Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa, Major Amit Sareen, SDMs Balbir Raj Singh, Lal Vishwas Bains, Randeep Singh Heer, Assistant Commissioners Harjinder Jassal, Pankaj Bansal and others.
