All Deputy Commissioners to ensure all flood control works before June 30: Sanjeev Kaushal

Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal directed all the Deputy Commissioners of the state to ensure the cleanliness of drains, bottle necking of culverts, pipes on drains and other flood control works etc. within their jurisdiction before June 30 and submit report in this regard.
Kaushal gave these directions while reviewing the status of new and on-going flood protection schemes with Divisional and Deputy Commissioners of all districts through video conference.
Addressing the Deputy Commissioners, he said that prior arrangements should be made to avert any untoward situation as floods could result in huge loss to life and property during the coming monsoon.
He directed the officers concerned to monitor the progress of all flood related works and projects and ensure that these complete well before time. He also directed them to identify overflowing of water channels in the State and make necessary arrangements of drainage of excess water through pumps.
He also issued directions for the cleanliness and desilting of drains in the State.
To ensure cleaning of drains at the earliest, he said that the Deputy Commissioners should engage Sub Divisional Magistrates and other officers of Irrigation Department to expedite the flood control works and these officers should personally visit and inspect the cleanliness of drains and flood control work sites.
He further directed the officers to submit the report to Additional Chief Secretary, Irrigation and Water Resources Department after the verification of work done.
To de-water the inundated areas across the state during heavy rains in the coming monsoon season, he directed the concerned officers to make adequate arrangements of functional water pumps. He also reviewed the status of short, medium and long term schemes flood protection schemes.
In the meeting, he also reviewed the position of flood inventory available with Irrigation and Water Resources Department. He directed the Power Department to provide the power connections wherever required to Irrigation Department during monsoon 2022.
