Phagwara: ADC reviews preparedness in night shelters in wake of ensuing winter season
Move aimed at giving relief to homeless people from cold weather

Phagwara, November 16, 2022: In a humanitarian gesture to keep homeless people from cold temperatures ahead of the winter season, Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Nayan Jassal on Wednesday reviewed the preparedness in the four-night shelters in the city.
Chairing a meeting here today, the Additional Deputy Commissioner said that there are four-night shelters in the city at the local Municipal Corporation office, Hadiabad, Urban Estate and Adarsh Nagar.
She said that these night shelters are well equipped to provide warm refuge to all shelter-less people in the city.
She said that the Phagwara administration is duty-bound to cover the entire homeless population to provide them with a warm refuge so that they don’t face any hardship during the ensuing winter season.
She directed the officers to ensure that the administration's team personally reaches the homeless people and takes them to night shelters. Reviewing the arrangements she directed the officials to ensure that all the homeless people get shelter at these night shelters.
Reiterating the firm commitment of the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to serve underprivileged sections, she called upon people to join hands with district administration in its endeavor.
She also urged the NGOs to come forward to help the poor and needy people during the winter season. She categorically mentioned that the Phagwara administration will leave no stone unturned to help shelter less people during the winter season.
