Avail Shagan scheme benefits for the marriage of girls of registered industrial workers: Gurdaspur DC

Gurdaspur, April 17, 2023: The Punjab government is running a special Shagan scheme for the marriage of daughters of industrial workers under which registered industrial workers can take advantage of this scheme on the occasion of their daughter's marriage.
Giving information about this scheme Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur Dr. Himanshu Agarwal said that the benefit of this scheme will be given only to those industrial workers who are working in the registered institution/establishment under the Punjab Labor Welfare Fund Act-1965 and are continuously contributing to the Punjab Labor Welfare Fund.
He said that workers can send an application letter on the prescribed form to the concerned Assistant Labor Commissioner/ Labor Conciliation Officer till the specified date of their daughter's marriage.
Under the Shagan scheme, the girl who works herself (is a worker) will also be given the benefit of this scheme.
Under this scheme, The Shagan scheme will be applicable only once on the occasion of the marriage of 2 girls and not on remarriage after a divorce, etc. A worker can apply within 6 months after the fixed date of his daughter's marriage. If the worker is receiving any such financial assistance from the state government or any other organization under this scheme then he will also be entitled to get the benefit under this scheme.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal further said that this amount from the Shagan scheme will be sent to the girl's bank account.
He said that the age of the girl should be 18 years or more. A copy of the school certificate, birth certificate, Aadhaar card, or driving license can be attached with the application as proof of age of the girl. A registered marriage certificate should also be attached with the application. There is no salary limit for the worker at the time of application.
He said that if the worker wants, the sum of 20,000 rupees will be given to the village sarpanch or the city MC regarding the marriage. can take an advance 3 months before the date of marriage by affixing self-attested self-declaration and can apply an amount of Rs. 11,000 within 6 months after marriage by affixing marriage registration certification.
The Deputy Commissioner has appealed to the registered industrial workers to take advantage of this Shagan scheme.
