Mohali DC welcomes 'Torch Relay' of 'Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan' at Sports Complex
SDM Kharar Receives Torch from Rupnagar District at Kurali

SAS Nagar, August 25, 2024: Mohali Administration led by DC Aashika Jain accorded a rousing welcome to the Torch Relay of the third edition of "Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan", 2024-25, at Multipurpose Sports Complex, Sector 78, Mohali.
Accompanied by budding players of the various games practicing at Sports Complex, she said that aiming at transforming Punjab into a leading state in the country in sports as well as to boost the sports culture among the young generation, the endeavor of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to start third edition of "Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan", 2024-25, the SAS Nagar district is 13th district of state where the Torch Relay has entered today through Kurali.
A warm welcome was also given to the Torch Relay, at the inter-district border upon entering from Rupnagar to Kurali by SDM Kharar Gurmander Singh outside Khalsa Senior Secondary School, she added.
Teputy Commissioner Jain further said that the third edition of 'Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan' is to be launched at Sangrur by the Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann on August 29. She said that the online registration for the participants has already been started and that could be done by logging on https://eservices.punjab.gov.in.
The last date for online registration is 29th August and block-level competitions of district SAS Nagar have been slated from September 2 to 7 at Kharar, Kurali, Mohali and Derabassi.
At block level, the participants have to compete for 7 games while for district and state level competitions the number of games would be 37 in total, she further added.
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain while interacting with the handball players at the sports complex upon arriving at the Torch Relay, mobilised them to compete at the state level to show their worth.
She said that recently the Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann awarded the Punjab-origin players of the Indian Hockey team who got the bronze medal in the Paris Olympics with Rs cash prizes up to one crore besides felicitating the other disciplines participants from Punjab who represented India in the Olympics.
The 'Torch Relay' halted at the Sector 78 Stadium before its departure to the next district. Amid the participation of hundreds of players, the Torch was further handed over to the district Fatehgarh Sahib on the Landra-Chunni route by District Sports Officer Rupesh Begra.
ADC (Urban Development) Damanjit Singh Mann, SDM Mohali Deepankar Garg, Tehsildar Arjun Singh Grewal and District Sports Officer Rupesh Begra along with coaches stationed at the sports complex were present during the welcoming ceremony of the torch.
