Jalandhar: MLA and DC assure foolproof arrangements during annual Sri Sidh Baba Sodal Mela
Assign duties to various departments for preparedness for mega event

Jalandhar, September 6, 2024: MLA Raman Arora and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today reviewed preparedness for the upcoming Sri Sidh Baba Sodal Mela.
They said that the district administration would make elaborate arrangements to facilitate the pilgrims converging from across the globe to pay obeisance at Sri Sidh Baba Sodal Temple during the fair on September 17.
Presiding over a meeting with the various organizations and departments here today, the MLA and the DC said that district administration would make foolproof arrangements to ensure that the pilgrims coming to this holy place to pay homage do not face any sort of inconvenience.
They said that this fair was an important event in the region and every effort must be made to ensure that pilgrims offer their prayers during the fair in a smooth and hassle-free manner.
The MLA and the DC reviewed security arrangements, traffic plan, cleanliness around the temple premises, portable water, mobile toilets, deployment of medical teams, etc.
During the meeting, it was decided that the General Manager of the Punjab Roadways to deploy buses to ferry the pilgrims to the shrine during the fair and the Public Works Department would ensure proper safety of the pilgrims by inspecting the stages and swings to be installed during the fair.
In order to ensure proper cleanliness around the temple premises, it was decided that the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar (MCJ) to appoint Safai Sewaks round the clock in rotation and proper cleanliness must be ensured in and around the temple by lifting the garbage on time.
Similarly, the Civic body would also make adequate arrangements for supply of potable drinking water and the installation of temporary public toilets.
The officials of Jalandhar Municipal Corporation were asked to ensure proper lighting in and around the temple premises.Likewise, Police department was asked to ensure proper surveillance, announcement system, traffic management, route plan, traffic diversion besides others.
It was also decided that the Health Department would depute its teams along with ambulances permanently during the fair to impart Health services to people and the PSPCL would ensure interrupted power during the fair by making adequate arrangements for power backup besides fixing dangling wires.
On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Amit Mahajan, SDM Balbir Raj Singh, Secretary of Sri Sidh Baba Sodal Trust Mr. Surinder Chadha, Mr. Pankaj Chaddha, and others were also present.A
