Fatehgarh Sahib: DC orders procurement agency officials to speed up lifting
89,781 metric tons of paddy has been lifted

Fatehgarh Sahib (Punjab), October 26, 2024: Regarding the ongoing purchase of paddy in the district markets, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sona Thind and SSP Dr. Ravjot Grewal visited Anaj Mandi Sarhind and Chanarthal and ordered the officials of procurement agencies to speed uplifting.
Talking to the media on this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration has made all the necessary arrangements regarding the purchase of paddy in the mandis of the district and the farmers would not face any kind of trouble in selling their crops in the mandis.
She said that the procurement process of paddy is going smoothly in the district and so far 89,781 metric tons of paddy has been lifted from the markets.
She further disclosed that she has given orders to the officials of all procurement agencies to ensure that the problems related with lifting of paddy must be resolved on priority. She would personally keep a close eye on the lifting process.
Dr. Sona Thind said that so far 2,32,797 metric tons of paddy have arrived in the markets of the district, out of which 2,17,226 metric tons of paddy have been purchased by various procurement agencies and traders.
474.28 crores have been deposited in the bank accounts of the farmers as payment for the purchased paddy.
While reviewing the purchase of paddy in Anaj Mandi Chanarthal, the Deputy Commissioner said that in Chanarthal Mandi earlier there was trouble regarding lifting but now out of 10 shellers in this area, allocation has been made to five shellers and the process regarding the rest was underway.
She said that the administration is monitoring the procurement process with all seriousness and all adequate arrangements have been made to facilitate the farmers in the markets.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the farmers of the district not to set fire to the paddy straw in their fields as burning causes environmental pollution, which poses a risk of many diseases.
On this occasion, SSP Dr. Ravjot Grewal said that regarding the purchase of paddy, the district police is working hand in hand with the civil administration.It is being ensured by the police that there is no problem regarding the law and order anywhere and the procurement process is carried out smoothly.
On this occasion, the Chairman of Market Committee Sirhind Gurwinder Singh Dhillon and Chairman of Market Committee Chanarthal Rashpinder Singh Raja, District Food Supply Controller Meenakshi along with officials of various departments, Commission agents and farmers were present.
