Fatehgarh Sahib (Punjab), December 25, 2024: Rotary Club Sirhind, under the able leadership of President Dr. Hitender Suri, Secretary Vineet Sharma, and Treasurer Sunil Bector, has taken a significant step to promote cleanliness during the ongoing Shahidi Jodh Mela in the holy city of Fatehgarh Sahib.
Recognizing the large number of langars (community kitchens) organized by various organizations, villages, and communities during this event, the club launched a cleanliness drive to ensure proper waste management and a cleaner environment. On this occassion, Sh Nakesh Jindal and Mr Daljeet Batra were also present.
The initiative began at Vivan Palace, where members of Rotary Club Sirhind gathered before heading out to distribute free dustbins across various langars.
The primary aim of this effort was to encourage people to use these dustbins for the disposal of waste materials, such as disposable items and garbage, thereby keeping the city clean.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Hitender Suri highlighted the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public spaces, especially during large gatherings.
"Cleanliness is not just about aesthetics; it reflects our responsibility towards the environment and our community. Through this initiative, we aim to spread awareness and instill a sense of duty among the people," he said.
The distribution of dustbins and the outreach by Rotary Club members were met with appreciation from langar organizers and attendees, who lauded the club’s efforts to promote hygiene and cleanliness during such a massive event.
This thoughtful initiative by Rotary Club Sirhind aligns with their commitment to community service and environmental stewardship. The club hopes this drive will inspire others to adopt similar practices, contributing to a cleaner and greener Fatehgarh Sahib.
