Fatehgarh Sahib: Free Knee replacement starts at Civil Hospital under Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana

Fatehgarh Sahib. March 2, 2021: Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna launched by the State Government for providing free and better health services to the poor and needy patients of the state, is proving boon as knee replacement a very costly treatment has been initiated at the Civil hospital Fatehgarh Sahib free of cost under this scheme, said Kuljit Singh Nagra MLA Fatehgarh Sahib, while talking to the media persons at Civil hospital after meeting the patient Avtar Singh resident of village Dhianu Majra, who had been suffering from knee pains for a long time and was unable to walk.
MLA said that all the eligible beneficiaries under this scheme can avail free treatment in the government health institutions of the district and in the reputed private hospitals designated by the government.
He said that a sea change has been witnessed in the health and education departments in Fatehgarh Sahib since Capt Amarinder Government took over and the District Hospital is playing a leading role in providing quality health facilities to the people.
Avtar Singh, a patient who underwent the surgery said that he kept going to different places for treatment of his knee but could not get the proper treatment and the doctors advised for replacement. He said that the private hospitals were demanding Lakhs of rupees, which he was unable to pay.
He said that he came to know about the health insurance scheme of the State government and he got his health insurance plan smart card and came to District Hospital for treatment where he underwent a successful knee replacement operation.
MLA said that under this scheme approximately 1.50 lakh cards have been issued in the district so far and the work of making cards for the beneficiaries is in full swing as the State Government has also launched a special campaign by setting up camps in all the market committees of the district for making cards.
He said that besides this e-cards of this scheme can also be made at Common Service Centers (CSCs) and Service Centers.
