Chandigarh records 625 new COVID-19 cases – highest single-day spike so far, with 3 deaths
Chandigarh, April 18, 2021:
Chandigarh reported 625 new COVID-19 positive cases on Sunday, which is the highest single-day spike till date. Three deaths due to COVID were also reported in the last 24 hours.
As per the information released by the health department, UT Chandigarh, the total number of active cases in Chandigarh stands at 3,625.
In the last 24 hours, the department has tested 3,541 samples. As per the figure, 413 deaths have been reported in Chandigarh due to COVID-19 to date.
Likewise, the total number of patients who have tested positive to date stands at 33,934.

COVID Death:-
- A 52 year old COVID positive Male R/o Sector 24, a case of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome and Severe Pneumonia, expired at Fortis Hospital, Mohali.
- A 62 year old COVID positive Female R/o Sector 29, a case of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension and Coronary Artery Disease, expired at GMCH 32..
- A 28 year old COVID positive Female R/o Mauli Jagran, a case of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome and Acute Kidney Problem, expired at GMSH 16.
Discharged Patients:-
- A total of 411 patients have been discharged including persons from home isolation who have completed 10 days and are asymptomatic, as per MoHFW guidelines.
