Food Safety teams organize awareness camps for food handlers
Ferozepur, October 13, 2021: In view of the upcoming holy festivals, the Health Department in the district have organized awareness camps for food handlers, under the directions of Health Minister, O.P.Soni, so that the residents could get standardized and good quality sweets during the festival days, said Dr.Rajinder Arora, Civil Surgeon today.
The main motive of organizing the camps was to sensitize the food handlers regarding proper sanitation and cleanliness in their food establishments and to ensure that customers are provided good quality food.
Dr.Arora said, the various teams under the tutelage of Food Safety Officer, Harvinder Singh have organized the awareness camps at Zira, Makhu, Mallanwala, Attari and Arifke.
Impressing upon the food businessmen to prepare food under hygienic conditions and sell good quality food, he said, every food business operator involved in the manufacturing, processing, storage distribution and sale of food products must obtain FSSAI Registration or License. It is a 14-digit registration or a license number and must be printed on all the food packages.
Stressing upon the food handlers to maintain a proper temperature for storing the food articles and keep their lanes and drains neat and clean to avoid cross-contamination, the Civil Surgeon also said to take care of cleanliness and must have licence under Food Safety Act 2006.

He also warned them of stringent action if any of them is found violating FSSA norms.
