AIIMS to sign MoU with MRSPTU to promote new academic partnership
MBA - Hospital Administration to start from current Academic Session

With the setting up of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bathinda, the city has been fast developing as a hub of Medicare for the three states of Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan and other far-flung areas of North India.
While Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda has become a ‘Center Point of Excellence’ in technical and scientific education-fuelling innovation and creativity. MRSPTU stands for advancement of technical education, pioneering research and innovation-driven development.
Keeping in view the developments, AIIMS and MRSPTU decided to sign an MoU to promote a new academic partnership and start MBA - Hospital Administration from the current Academic Session to meet the challenges in the healthcare and Management of hospitals.
A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of AIIMS Director Prof. Dinesh Kumar Singh and MRSPTU, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu to finalize the modalities of academic partnership and start the new emerging need-based courses at the Conference room of AIIMS on Thursday.
The meeting was attended by AIIMS, Associate Professor, Department of Urology, Dr. Kawaljit Singh Kaura, Assistant Professor, Deptt. of Hospital Administration, Dr. Moonish Mirza and Assistant Professor, Deptt. of Hospital Administration, Dr. K Purshottam Hovvaya (all from AIIMS), while MRSPTU Registrar, Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Brar, Associate Dean Academics, MRSPTU, Dr. Kanwaljit Singh Sandhu, In-charge, University Business School, Dr. Pritpal Singh Bhullar, Head, School of Planning & Architecture, Dr. Bhupinderpal Singh Dhot and Director Public Relations Harjinder Singh Sidhu were also attended the meeting.
MBA- Hospital Administration is being started in view of the increasing trend of Super Specialty hospitals globally, which has stimulated the increase in demand for experts in Hospital Administration.
Prof. D.K. Singh and Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu said that after the signing of an MoU, both the premier institutes of Punjab will be mandated to provide a development of leaders in the field of Hospital Administration with top-quality education with the main thrust to develop skills and practical knowledge related to the management of Hospital Administration. Hospital administrators are responsible for the administration, leadership, and management of hospitals and hospital networks. To cater to this demand and bridge the gap between medical specializations and managerial & administrative skills, MBA- in Hospital Administration is proposed. They asserted that AIIMS and MRSPTU, both neighboring Institutes, have huge potential to contribute to the nation
They hoped that the novel initiative would all be set to improve career options for medical professionals.
A first-of-its-kind initiative between both the prestigious Institutes was conceptualized after marathon meetings of experts of both institutes. The Infrastructure of both institutes will be available for providing quality education and hands-on training.
Giving more details, the official spokespersons of both Institutes said that having an MBBS, MD Hospital Administration faculty at AIIMS Bathinda unfolds a wide range of opportunities for business students to understand the functioning of the hospital services that will in term develop leadership and problem-solving skills required in growing.
Key Highlights of the Course include building skills in areas such as Hospital Leadership, Human resources, healthcare finance, healthcare quality management, Epidemic & Disaster Management, Biostatistics & Epidemiology, Healthcare Management, Hospital Operations Management, and Strategic Management of Healthcare Organizations, Health Information Management, Health Business Analytics. The program will give students a unique opportunity to get training under AIIMS MD Hospital Administration faculty and Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University to experience administration concepts of a modern hospital using various pedagogical approaches.
The education delivery methodology is a blend of classroom and experiential learning. Experiential learning consists of lab exercises, assignments, case studies, simulations and work-integrated learning activities in AIIMS. While participants who successfully finish MBA in Hospital Administration program will become alumni of an eminent MRSPTU and AIIMS, Bathinda institutes.
MBA (Hospital Administration) will be a two years (Four semesters) program with a proposed number of intake ranging between 30 to 60, while the mode of Delivery will be blended Mode (Offline + Online).
