Nawanshahr, August 13, 2022: Terming the Punjab government's move to honour two hospitals (One Government and One Private) each in all the districts of the state for their notable contribution in implementing the Ayushman Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, during the district level Independence Day function, a farce, the IMA, Punjab President, Dr. Paramjit Maan said that the IMA to express resentment has decided not to receive honour during Independence Day functions across the state.
"Instead of releasing long-pending payments under the Ayushman Scheme, the Punjab Government is playing gimmicks to appease doctors with "lollypop" of appreciation letters.

Giving details, Dr.Maan said that in the communication along with the list of hospitals and Appreciation Certificate, to all the DCs, the Special Secretary cum CEO, State Health Agency, Punjab has stated that the hospitals have treated the maximum cases under the Ayushman scheme during the first seven months of the current year, hence these should be honored on the Independence Day function at their respective districts.
"The IMA, Punjab does not only condemn the double standards of the Punjab Government but also refuses to accept the appreciation letters sans release of pending payments of the hospitals", said Dr. Maan further adding that though the Punjab government had been recognizing their notable contribution in extending healthcare services but adopting the dilly-dallying approach in releasing the due payments.
As per the available information from sources, the Punjab government has recently released a sum of Rs.10 crore out of the total pending payment of Rs.16 crore to the PGI, Chandigarh under the scheme.
It amounts to 60 percent, but the Government has not released more than 10 to 15 percent of the total payments due to hospitals serving in Punjab, further rued IMA president.
