National Commission for SC takes cognizance of delivery of lady on floor of Pathankot’s Civil Hospital

National Commission for SC has pulled up state administration after a shocking incident came to light from Pathankot where a lady had to deliver her baby on the floor of Civil Hospital after being denied by the authorities to admit inside the labour room.
A complaint/information was received by the National Commission for Scheduled Castes from Rakit Mahajan.
Acting on it, the commission issued notice to Divisional Commissioner of Jalandhar, IGP Border Range Amritsar, DC Pathankot, SSP Pathankot, Medical Superintendent of Pathankot Civil Hospital and the Chief Medical Officer of Pathankot Civil Hospital in this regard. The commission has asked them to conduct thorough probe into this matter and to take strict action against the responsible persons for negligence. The commission also sought full detailed action taken report from the administration within seven days.
Notably, on Tuesday night, a 38-year-old pregnant lady, identified as Seeta, resident of Peepla in Pathankot, was reportedly denied access to the labour room. After that she was forced to give birth on the floor of the corridor of the hospital.
The video footage of the lady and her newborn baby girl laying on the floor has also gone viral on social media.
