Unnecessary use of antibiotics can be harmful, says Civil Surgeon
Ferozepur, November 22, 2022: During a health message of the Health Department on celebrations of World Antimicrobial Week, Dr. Rajinder Pal, Civil Surgeon said,”Unnecessary use of antibiotic drugs can prove harmful” The slogan of World Antimicrobial Awareness Week remains 'Antimicrobials: Handle with Care'. WAAW which is celebrated from 18 to 24 November every year.
Dr. Rajinder Pal said that antibiotics should be taken only if recommended by a competent doctor. He also advised that no one should use antibiotic drugs voluntarily. If these medicines have been suggested by a specialist doctor only then the same should be taken and the full course should be taken as incomplete courses lead to drug tolerance and later recovery takes longer. He said that leftover antibiotics should not be shared with others. Healso emphasized on the need to wash hands periodically to prevent the spread of disease and microbial infection.
