Health Department holds awareness seminar on National Dengue Day
Ferozepur, May 16, 2023: Health Department organized an awareness seminar on National Dengue Day for the students at Government Senior Secondary School for Girls, about prevention, protection and symptoms of dengue. A poster making competition was also conducted on this event, said Rajesh Mehta, Principal and first, second and third place students were felicitated by the health department.
The initiative to celebrate National Dengue Day was launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to discuss the government’s plans and strategies to control the spread of dengue, which affects a significant number of people globally each year.
On this occasion Dr. Rajinder Pal Civil Surgeon said, the primary objective of National Dengue Day is to encourage individuals to take proactive measures and adopt preventive measures to reduce the transmission of the virusPutting wiser the students, he said, Dengue fever is a viral disease that spreads through the bite of an infected Aedes aegypti mosquito and is caused by the dengue virus (DENV) and high fever, pain behind the eyes, muscle pain , nausea , vomiting , bleeding from the nose, mouth, jaw and blue skin are the symptoms of dengue fever.
The civil surgeon said that teams from the health department teams have been formed to sensitize the district residents about protection against dengue, malaria and chikungunya disease.
In the seminar, Dr. Minderpal Kaur, Eepidemiologist said that the dengue test and treatment is free at the civil hospital and on feeling the symptoms one must immediately get his test and treatment done at Civil Hospital Ferozepur which is done free of charge. Dengue awareness material was released on this occasion.
