Block-Level games under Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan-2024 Season-3 kick off in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, September 9, 2024: Block-level games under the Kheda Watan Punjab Diyan-2024 Season-3 initiative have begun in the Ferozepur district, organized by the Punjab Government’s Sports Department with the support of the District Administration. Competitions commenced at Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University in Ferozepur for Block Ghal Khurd players, at Shri Guru Ramdas Sports Stadium for Block Guruharshai, and at Govt Sr Sec School (Boys) in Zira for Block Zira players.
MLA Guruharshai Fauja Singh Sarari, Naresh Kataria, and Registrar of Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University Ferozepur, Ghazalpreet Singh, attended the events as chief guests, offering encouragement to the participants. Special guests included SDM Guruharshai Gagandeep Singh, SDM Zira Gurmeet Singh, SDM Ferozepur Harkamaljit Singh, and Aam Aadmi Party District President Malkit Thind.
Addressing the participants, the guests emphasized the importance of sports for physical and mental development, urging the youth to seize this platform provided by the Punjab government to progress to district and state-level competitions. They highlighted how engagement in sports not only strengthens the body but also helps steer youth away from drugs.
District Sports Officer Ferozepur, Rupinder Singh Brar, provided further details on the competitions. In Block Ghal Khurd, the Kabaddi National Style (Girls) competition saw Sassas Mudki secure the first position and Sahas Lalley the second in the U-14 category. In the U-17 category, Sahas Lalle won first place while Sahas Tubar Bhan came in second.
At Block Zira, the U-14 Athletics Long Jump competition saw Sudha Kumari from Jeevan Mall Sass School claim first place, Prabhaveer Kaur second, and Kistam Kaur third. In the U-17 category, Avastha Kaur and Kirandeep Kaur secured first and second positions, respectively. At Block Guruharshai, Chak Mahantwala won first place in the U-14 Kabaddi National Style (Girls), with Chah Bohari coming in second. In the U-17 category, Sohangarh took first place, Mohan K Hithar second, and Chak Panje K third.
The event was well-attended by representatives from the Sports Department Ferozepur, Education Department (DPE/PTI), Health Department teams, village Panchayat members, and other notable dignitaries.
