Jalandhar (Punjab), October 25, 2024: The teams of Bharat Petroleum and Indian Oil Mumbai will face each other for the title of the 41st Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament.
In the first semi-final of the ongoing tournament at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium, Bharat Petroleum Mumbai defeated Indian Railways Delhi by a margin of 3-2 and in the second semi-final, Indian Oil Mumbai defeated Punjab and Sind Bank Delhi by a margin of 8-1. Entered the finals.
The final match of the tournament will be played on October 26 (Saturday) at 6-30 pm. Punjab Government Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema will distribute the prizes to the winning teams while Jatinder Kumar of Indian Oil will preside over the state head ceremony.
The winning team will be given a cash prize of Rs 5-50 lakh by Amolak Singh Gakhal along with the winning trophy. During this ceremony, the members of the 1975 World Cup winning Indian hockey team will be specially honored by the Surjit Hockey Society.
Popular Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi will entertain the audience before the final match. The final match will be telecast live on PTC News Channel and YouTube Channel.
The first semi-final was played at a fast pace between Bharat Petroleum Mumbai and Indian Railways Delhi. In the first minute of the game, Aditya Singh of Indian Railway converted a penalty corner to make the score 1-0.
In the 15th minute of the game, Bharat Petroleum's international player Devinder Valmiki converted the penalty stroke into a goal to make the score 1-1. In the 24th minute of the game, Joginder Singh of Indian Railway converted a penalty corner into a goal to make the score 2-1.In the 27th minute, Devinder Valmiki of Bharat Petroleum converted the penalty stroke into a goal to make the score 2-2. Both teams were tied at 2-2 at half time. In the 43rd minute of the third quarter of the game, Paramveer Singh of Bharat Petroleum converted the penalty corner into a goal to make the score 3-2. After winning this match, they have entered the finals for the fifth time.In the second semi-final, Indian Oil Mumbai continued to dominate Punjab and Sind Bank.
In the 11th minute of the game, Sumit Kumar of Indian Oil scored a field goal to make the score 1-0. In the 18th minute of the game, Indian Oil's Gursevak Singh scored to make the score 2-0. International player Talwinder Singh scored in the 24th minute of the game and Gurjinder Singh scored in the 26th minute to make the score 4-0.
Indian Oil led 4-0 at half time. Indian Oil's Sumit Kumar in the 32nd minute after half-time and Gurjinder Singh in the 40th minute of the game and Sahajbir Singh in the 45th minute made the score 7-0. In the 52nd minute of the game, Bank's Jaskaran Singh scored a field goal to make the score 1-7.
Gurjinder Singh of Indian Oil scored a goal in the 58th minute of the game to make the score 8-1. The Indian Oil team has reached the finals of this tournament for the 14th time.
Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian, the chief guest of today's matches, introduced the teams. During today's matches, Rajwinder Kaur Thiara, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Dr. Himashu Agarwal, Mangal Singh, Atmaprakash Bablu, Ravinder Singh Puar (UK), LR Nair, Lakhwinderpal Singh Khaira, Narinderpal Singh Judge, Ranbir Singh Rana Tut, Gurvinder Singh Gulu, Jatin Mahajan (Alpha), Ajaypal Boxer, Gaurav Mahajan (Jonex), Lakhbir Singh Norway, Ramnik Singh Randhawa, Gurpreet Singh, Cam Gill (USA), Iqbal Singh Dhillon, Sukhi Mann, Sukhwinder Lali, Iqbal Singh Sandhu, Surinder Singh Bhapa, Olympian Rajinder Singh, Professor Kripal Singh Matharu, Ram Pratap were specially present.
