Ferozepur Police-VWS launches Anti-Drug Volleyball Tournament to promote healthy living
Ferozepur, January 3, 2025: The Ferozepur Police and Vivekananda World School grandly inaugurated an anti-drug volleyball tournament under the "Mission Sampark" initiative. The primary aim of this event was to spread awareness about the dangers of drugs and inspire the youth to adopt a healthy lifestyle. This event was organised under the guidance of Punjab's Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, DGP Punjab.
The opening ceremony was graced by the chief guest, DIG Ranjit Singh Dhillon of the Ferozepur Range, and was led by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Ferozepur, Ms. Saumya Mishra.
The program commenced with a warm welcome extended to the esteemed guests by Dr. Gaurav Sagar Bhaskar, Chairman of Vivekananda World School. Following this, the key organizer of the tournament, Ms Saumya Mishra, IPS, SSP, highlighted the significance of the anti-drug campaign and urged attendees to take the mission to every street and neighbourhood. She emphasized the need for a collective effort to maximize participation and achieve the goal of a drug-free society.
The joint efforts of the police department and Vivekananda World School turned this initiative into a significant step toward guiding youth in a positive direction. Events like this not only promote sports but also encourage society to confront the issue of drug abuse more seriously. This tournament saw participation from Village Defense Committees and various business, social, and agricultural organizations, representing 500 villages of Ferozepur, making it a collaborative success.
The students presented a welcome song to greet the chief guests. National-level shooters from the school showcased their talent with an impressive shooting demonstration. They also performed an anti-drug anthem that captivated the audience, reinforcing the vision of a drug-free society. The tournament officially began with the release of white doves, symbolizing peace and harmony.
A total of 24 teams from across Punjab participated in the tournament, including 14 teams from various villages in Ferozepur and 10 teams from other parts of Punjab. Teams from the Indian Army, Border Security Force (BSF), SOG Team Punjab Blue, and Ferozepur Police Range added to the tournament's grandeur. This initiative reflected how the Punjab Police is not only committed to its duties but also actively spreading awareness against drugs through sports. All teams competed with enthusiasm and vigour.
During the program, players, students, and guests were administered an oath to abstain from drugs and work toward creating a drug-free environment around them. Each participant appreciated the efforts of Ferozepur Police and Vivekananda World School in organizing such a meaningful initiative.
The event was attended by prominent personalities, including Randhir Kumar (SP, Investigation), Mr Sukhwinder Singh (DSP, Ferozepur City), Dr S.N. Rudra (School Director), and others.
