2020-batch IAS officer Rahul Modi joins Haryana cadre

Chandigarh, September 17, 2023: Another officer has joined the IAS (Indian Administrative Service) cadre of Haryana. 2020-batch IAS officer Rahul Modi has joined the Haryana cadre.
Notably, this officer has neither been promoted nor selected in IAS from the Haryana Civil Service (HCS) nor the Non-State Civil Service (Non-SCS) quota.
Rahul Modi has been transferred inter-cadre from Tripura cadre to Haryana cadre due to his marriage with Haryana cadre 2020 batch female IPS officer Deepti Garg.
While collecting and sharing official information in this regard, Punjab and High Court Advocate Hemant Kumar said that on September 4 this month itself, an order has been issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT) of the Central Government in which it is mentioned that IAS. Under Rule 5 (2) of Cadre Rules, 1954 and with the consent of the state governments of Tripura and Haryana, Rahul Modi, IAS is transferred from Tripura cadre to Haryana cadre due to his marriage with Haryana cadre IPS Deepti Garg. Rahul Modi is originally from Rajasthan while Deepti is a native of Haryana and has been posted as ASP (Assistant Superintendent of Police) in Sirsa district for the last 6 months.
Giving an interesting information, Hemant said that three years ago, when Rahul Modi was selected in the UPSC Civil Examination 2019-20, he became very popular on social media for two reasons because one was his 420th rank in the said examination and second, The reason behind their names is that their original name Rahul matches with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi while the surname Modi matches with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This turns out to be a very amazing coincidence.
Hemant told about other such cases in Haryana after receiving information from the Central Government through RTI.
In April this year, 2023, Anupama Anjali, a woman IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre 2018 batch, was inter-cadre transferred from Andhra Pradesh cadre to Haryana cadre due to her marriage with Harshit Kumar, an IAS of 2020 batch Haryana cadre. Anupama is currently posted as ADC (Additional Deputy Commissioner) in Bhiwani district.
Last year in November 2022, Renu Sogan, a 2019 batch IAS of the West Bengal cadre, was transferred from the West Bengal cadre to the Haryana cadre due to her marriage with Hitesh Meena, an IAS of the 2019 batch of the Haryana cadre both Hitesh and Renu are originally from Rajasthan. Hitesh is currently ADC in Gurugram while Renu is posted as ADC in Nuh.
Before that, in February 2022, Dr. Balpreet Singh, an IAS officer of the 2019 batch, was inter-cadre transferred from Kerala cadre to Haryana cadre due to his marriage with Upasana, a 2017 batch woman IPS of Haryana cadre. Balpreet's home state is Punjab while Upasana is a native of Haryana. Upasana has recently been posted as SP of Kaithal district.
Before that, in October 2021, 2015 batch Assam-Meghalaya cadre IAS Shantanu Sharma was transferred from Assam-Meghalaya cadre to Haryana cadre due to his marriage with 2020 batch female IAS C. Jayashardha of Haryana cadre. Shantanu is originally from Jharkhand while Jayashardha is from Tamil Nadu. Jayashardha is currently SDM of Narayangarh sub-division in Ambala district. While Shantanu is posted as DC of Kurukshetra district.
Before that, in the year July 2021 itself, Neha Singh, a woman IAS officer of 2015 batch, had also joined the Haryana IAS cadre because she was transferred from Gujarat to Haryana due to her marriage with 2015 batch IAS Rahul Hooda of Haryana cadre. Neha is originally a resident of Bihar. Presently Neha is the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Palwal district while Rahul is posted as DC in Rewari.
