Two senior IRS officers promoted to top posts in Customs and Indirect Tax

New Delhi, November 30, 2024: The Government has announced the promotion and empanelment of two senior officers of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Indirect Taxes) to higher posts in the Department.
Ram Nivas, a 1990 batch IRS officer, presently serving as Chief Commissioner of Customs, Chennai Zone, has been promoted as Principal Chief Commissioner/Principal Director General of Customs & Indirect Taxes.
This is a Level 17 Apex Scale post in the Pay Matrix, one of the highest ranks in the service.
Similarly, Pranavesh Pathak, a 1992 batch IRS officer, presently posted in Customs, Ahmedabad Zone, has been promoted as Chief Commissioner/Director General of Customs and Indirect Taxes.
His new role is at Level 16 of the Pay Matrix, which is an important milestone in his career.
