Mohali, August 5, 2022:
Leading the way in research and innovation, Chandigarh University’s Gurveer Singh has brought laurels to the entire state by registering significant achievements in research and development. Hailing from Bagge, a small village in Moga district, Gurveer, a student of aerospace engineering, has filed 3 patents in the aerospace field and has worked with Punjab Aircraft Maintenance Engineering College and Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory of DRDO. Apart from this, he is currently serving as an Aeronautical Analyst in Capgemini India Private Limited, Bangalore.
Considering the challenges faced in the field of aeromodelling, Gurveer Singh has developed an unmanned autonomous aerial vehicle, which is manufactured from high-grade thermocol (EPP). This vehicle is capable of lifting 2 to 5 kg weight, 360 degree photography and videography, which can be used for agricultural survey, military survey, transportation of medicine and food during natural calamities. Apart from this, Gurveer has developed a 'Vehicle Overloading Detection System' to detect vehicle overloading. This will be a technology that will be fitted in the vehicles, which will help in maintaining the balance of the vehicle by conveying the signal of overloading of the vehicle to the driver in case of excess weight. This system will help in curbing accidents due to overloading.
Besides, Gurveer has developed a vehicle rental system to avoid extra costs on transportation and parking problems. With this system the vehicle owner will be able to track his vehicle to extreme precision. Apart from this, Gurveer has also worked on many projects jointly with IIT Mumbai and Ballistics Research Laboratory DRDO.
Team Agnee brings honour to country
No matter the odds, you are destined for greater glory, so long as you are committed to your dream and willing to put in all, that your passion demands. This is the story of Neetu Bhardwaj and Shubham Pradhan, and their team Agnee, which has made the entire country proud, when they along with their fellow team members secured 13th rank globally and 2nd spot amongst all Indian Universities in the prestigious CANSAT competition of NASA.
Both Neetu and Shubham are at the core of Chandigarh University’s CU-SAT program, an initiative by Varsity to launch its own satellite into the space as part of Indian Government’s Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, which celebrates the 75th anniversary of India’s independence by launching 75 student satellites, as announced by PM Narendra Modi.
In the latest edition of NASA's CANSAT Competition, an annual student design-build-launch competition run by the American Astronomical Society, Team Agnee competed against more than 400 teams globally and worked on their project, which was inspired from Mars Perseverance Rover Landing i.e. the part of NASA's Mars Exploration Program, a long-term effort of robotic exploration of the Red Planet, but in the Earth’s conditions. The team made it to the final round of the competition and secured 13th position amongst all the teams, globally, and 2nd spot among the private universities in India.
