AAP MPs to deploy MPLADS funds for Punjab flood relief
Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members pledge crores for embankments, rescue gear, and rehabilitation

Members of Parliament from the Aam Aadmi Party announced they will utilize their Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) funds for flood relief works in Punjab, with both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs working on the ground alongside affected communities.
Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak visited flood-hit areas of Ferozepur to review rescue operations and announced ₹5 crore from MPLADS for relief and rehabilitation measures.
Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha toured Gurdaspur’s flood-affected localities and sanctioned ₹3.60 crore from MPLADS for strengthening embankments and urgent relief works.
Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, who has been continuously engaged in relief efforts across Kapurthala district, announced ₹50 lakh from discretionary funds and released special helpline numbers to support flood victims directly.
Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh allocated ₹30 lakh for mobile water tankers and fogging machines, and sanctioned ₹17.32 lakh for boats—three for Ferozepur, two for Kapurthala, and one for Gurdaspur—while also announcing four additional boats for Jalandhar.
Lok Sabha MP from Hoshiarpur Raj Kumar Chabbewal announced ₹50 lakh from MPLADS to strengthen embankments at vulnerable locations across the district.
Sangrur MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, engaged in relief efforts in Ajnala (Amritsar), announced ₹25 lakh from MPLADS to the Amritsar district administration, while Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Kumar Mittal contributed ₹20 lakh from discretionary funds for Amritsar’s relief needs.
Anandpur Sahib MP Malvinder Singh Kang inspected the Sutlej embankments at Bela Tajowal (Nawanshahr) and erosion along Patiala Ki Rao in Nayagaon (Mohali), immediately releasing ₹20 lakh from MPLADS to strengthen the Sutlej embankment at Bela Tajowal.
The coordinated contributions underscore a party-wide push to expedite relief, reinforce flood protection infrastructure, and equip districts with critical resources for swift response and recovery.
