Breaking: Modi Cabinet approves hike in MSP for paddy

New Delhi, May 28, 2025 — In a key decision aimed at supporting farmers ahead of the upcoming sowing season, the Union Cabinet has approved a hike of ₹69 in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy, raising it to ₹2,369 per quintal for the 2025–26 Kharif season.
The announcement was made by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who stated that the move is part of the government’s continued commitment to ensure remunerative prices for farmers and to strengthen agricultural income security.
“The revised MSP reflects the government’s resolve to improve the livelihood of farmers and make agriculture more profitable,” said Vaishnaw during a press briefing.
