Sri Goindwal Sahib (Punjab), August 8, 2025 — Dharam Singh, a co-accused in the case of an alleged assassination attempt on Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal, was released today from Ekalgadda Central Jail after securing bail.
Dharam Singh was named alongside Bhai Narayan Singh Chaura in connection with the December 4, 2024, incident, in which Sukhbir Badal was allegedly fired upon with intent to kill. Narayan Singh has already been granted bail earlier in the case.

According to the challan, on December 3 — a day before the incident — both Narayan Singh and Dharam Singh had offered prayers at Sri Akal Takht Sahib, where they allegedly placed slips to seek divine guidance on whether to proceed with the attack.
The prayer was reportedly conducted by Narayan Singh, while Dharam Singh picked up the slip.Bail was granted to Dharam Singh on August 4 by Additional Sessions Judge Amritsar, Sanjeev Kundi, and he was released today after furnishing a surety bond.
