New Delhi, March 15, 2026: The Election Commission of India on Sunday announced the schedule for the upcoming Assembly elections in four states and union territories — Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala, and the Union Territory of Puducherry. Polling across these regions will begin on April 9, while the counting of votes will take place on May 4.

Polling Dates
According to the schedule announced by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, polling in Assam, Kerala and Puducherry will be conducted on April 9, with results to be declared on May 4.
In Tamil Nadu, voters will cast their ballots on April 23, while the counting of votes will also take place on May 4.
Elections in West Bengal will be held in two phases, with the first phase on April 23 and the second phase on April 29. The counting of votes for the state will be carried out along with the other states on May 4.
