ECI doubles the remuneration for booth-level officers; enhances remuneration for BLO Supervisors

Chandigarh, August 04, 2025 — Haryana Chief Electoral Officer, A. Sreenivas, said that the Election Commission of India continues to fulfill its responsibility of conducting free, fair, and transparent elections across the country with utmost seriousness.
In recognition of the hard work done by election staff, the Commission has taken a major step by doubling the annual remuneration of booth level officers.(BLOs).
He said that pure electoral rolls are the bedrock of democracy. The electoral roll machinery, consisting of Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), BLO Supervisors and Booth Level Officers (BLOs), do a lot of hard work and play a pivotal role in preparation of impartial and transparent electoral rolls.
These officers work tirelessly at the grassroots level to ensure that the election process remains fair and accurate.
He informed that the Commission has increased the annual remuneration of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 12,000, the Incentive to BLO for Revision of electoral roll has been increased from Rs.1,000 to Rs. 2,000, the remuneration of BLO supervisors has also been revised from Rs.12,000 to Rs.18,000 annually.
Similarly, for the first time, the Commission has also fixed remuneration for EROs and AEROs. Rs.30,000 for EROs and Rs. 25,000 for AEROs. Sh. Sreenivas mentioned that this is the first such revision since 2015.
Apart from this, the Commission had also approved a special incentive of Rs 6,000 for BLOs for Special Intensive Revision (SIR) starting from Bihar.
Sreenivas said that this decision reflects the Election Commission's commitment to adequately compensate election personnel who work tirelessly at the field level to maintain accurate electoral rolls, assist voters, and strengthen the electoral process.
