Ferozepur, February 8: Under the Punjab government's Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, a one-day training program was organized at Das & Brown School, Ferozepur, for newly appointed primary cadre teachers (2021-2025). Aimed at providing quality, inclusive education to disabled (special needs) students in government schools, the session drew nearly 650 participants from the district.
Trainers from the IED (Inclusive Education for Disabled) wing—District Special Educator Krishan Mohan Chobe and Special Educator Rajesh Kumar—covered key topics, including identification of disabled students, ongoing government schemes and facilities, special activities, and principles of inclusive education.
District Education Officer (Elementary) Sunita Rani stated that the Punjab government prioritizes not just education but various facilities for disabled students, enabling them to recognize their talents, integrate into mainstream society, and lead dignified lives. She highlighted scholarships from the administration and education department, special exam relaxations by the Punjab School Education Board, the working style of special teachers in the district, and strategies to help these students live better lives.
District MIS Coordinator Pawan Madan addressed the teachers, urging special attention to dropout students to improve Ferozepur's ranking under the central government's Aspirational District Programme. He shared U-DISE survey data on student enrollment, teacher-student ratios, and education indicators like GER, NER, transition rates, and dropout rates. Madan noted that rising enrollments in government schools would boost education metrics and create more job opportunities for new teachers.
The event was attended by the principal of Das & Brown School, IED wing officials, and special teachers from the district.
