In a decisive move under the Punjab Government's ongoing anti-drug campaign “Yudh Nashian Virudh,” two illegally constructed buildings linked to known drug smugglers were demolished today in Gidderbaha, District Sri Muktsar Sahib.
Senior Superintendent of Police Akhil Chaudhary stated that the structures, situated near Bharu Chowk in Gidderbaha, were illegally raised by Jaswinder Singh alias Bhalla, son of Trilok Singh, and Baljit Kaur alias Baggo, wife of Teja Singh—both residents of the area. Following approval from the competent authority and with proper security arrangements, the illegal buildings were brought down.
Jaswinder Singh is facing three criminal cases related to drug trafficking and theft, while Baljit Kaur has two cases registered against her under the NDPS Act.
SSP Chaudhary affirmed that strict action is being taken across the district as per the directives of the state government. He emphasized that properties acquired through drug proceeds will be attached, and any unauthorized construction on government land will be demolished.
He urged citizens to come forward with information about drug peddlers, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept confidential and prompt action will follow based on credible inputs.
The demolition drive was conducted in the presence of SP (D) Manmeet Singh, DSP Gidderbaha Avtar Singh, DSP Rashpal Singh, DSP (H) Amandeep Singh, Naib Tehsildar Deepak Bhardwaj, and SHO Gidderbaha SI Deepika Rani.
