Jayeshtha Maitreyi, an officer of the 2018 IPS batch assumed charge as Superintendent of Police (SP) in Sawai Madhopur on Saturday. Known for her disciplined approach and commitment to public service, Maitreyi brings a wealth of experience and a strong sense of duty to her new position.
Her journey to IPS has been nothing short of inspiring. After completing her 12th standard, Maitreyi pursued a degree in engineering at the Jaypee Institute in Noida. It was during the final year of her B.Tech program that she decided to appear for the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) examination.
Her hard work and determination paid off as she cleared the exam with an impressive rank, earning her a posting as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Morena district.
While serving as a DSP, Maitreyi did not let her aspirations waver. She continued her preparation for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination, even amidst the demanding responsibilities of her role. Her dedication was further boost up by the support and guidance of Aditya Pratap Singh, the then Superintendent of Police in Morena.
His mentorship played a significant role in helping her navigate the challenges of balancing her professional duties with her UPSC preparation.
In 2018, Maitreyi's efforts culminated in a remarkable achievement, she cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination, securing an impressive all-India rank of 156. This milestone marked the beginning of her journey as an Indian Police Service officer, a role in which she has consistently demonstrated her commitment to upholding the law and serving society.
Maitreyi's disciplined upbringing played a crucial role in shaping her character and values. Her father, Girish Chand Arya, worked in the Electricity Board, while her mother, Manju, served as the principal of a Government Higher Secondary School in Guna. Their dedication to their respective professions inspired Maitreyi to strive for excellence in her own career.
As a police officer, Maitreyi is known for her strict adherence to the rule of law. She is respected for her no-nonsense approach to dealing with crime and criminals.
