Majithia's bail hearing sees heated 90-minute debate; Here's what happened

Mohali (Punjab), August 11, 2025: Former Punjab minister and senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia received no relief from the Mohali court today in the disproportionate assets case. After a crucial hearing on his bail plea, the court postponed its decision until tomorrow.
During today’s proceedings, lawyers from both sides engaged in an intense debate lasting about an hour and a half. Majithia’s wife, MLA Ganieve Kaur Majithia, was also present in the courtroom.
Despite the prolonged arguments, no verdict was delivered, and the court scheduled the next hearing for August 12. A decision on the bail plea is expected tomorrow.
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrested Bikram Majithia on June 25 from his Amritsar residence in connection with the disproportionate assets case. Since then, he has been lodged in Patiala’s New Nabha Jail.
For the probe into this high-profile matter, vigilance teams have been conducting investigations not only in Punjab but also in Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh.
Recently, Majithia celebrated the Raksha Bandhan festival inside jail, where his sister, Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal, tied him a rakhi during her visit to Nabha Jail.
