No More Stubble Burning: Punjab’s Bold Step for Clean Air

Chandigarh, May 15, 2025: The Punjab government has launched a groundbreaking initiative to eliminate stubble burning while fostering industrial growth and cleaner air. Minister Tarunpreet Sond highlights that this move will safeguard the environment and deliver substantial economic benefits to farmers and industries across the state.
The initiative promotes the use of agricultural residue (parali) as a fuel source for industries by providing significant subsidies for stubble-based boilers. Through the new Capital Subsidy Scheme, industries can receive up to ₹1 crore in subsidies for each 8 TPH (Tonnes Per Hour) boiler installed. This shift aims to reduce reliance on coal, oil, or other biomass, transforming stubble into a valuable resource.
By addressing stubble burning, a key contributor to air pollution, Punjab is advancing toward a cleaner, healthier future. The Mann government has called on industries using oil, coal, or other biomass to promptly adopt this scheme. The program promises mutual benefits, allowing farmers to profit from stubble sales while enabling industries to lower costs and support a sustainable Punjab.
