SBS State University hosts life-saving blood donation camp
Campus has 54 time blood donors
Ferozepur, September 19, 2025: Reinforcing the vital message by organising a large-scale blood donation camp on Thursday at Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University, Prof. Gazalpreet Singh, Registrar said that “blood cannot be manufactured in laboratories; it must be donated by one human to another to save lives in emergencies, accidents, or surgeries.
The camp was jointly held by the university’s Red Ribbon Clubs, NSS units, the Punjab Department of Youth Services, and Mera Yuva Bharat. Prof. Dr. Ghazalpreet Singh, Registrar inaugurated the event, while Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sushil Mittal sent a congratulatory message appreciating the noble initiative.
According to Campus PRO Yashpal, a total of 52 units of blood were collected by the medical team led by Dr. Diswan Bajwa, with special support from campus pharmacist Madhav Gopal and nurse Kamal Bhatti.
Faculty members and staff joined students in the humanitarian effort. Donors included Dr. Bohar Singh, Dr. Gurpreet Singh, PRO Yashpal, Deepak Sharma, Assistant Prof. Gurjeevan Singh—who has personally donated blood 54 times—Balkaran Singh, Raman Bhandari, Sukhjinder Sandhu, Jaswinder Singh, and Davinder Monga, among others.
A standout moment came when Akanksha Gaba, a second-year Computer Science student, donated blood for the third time within a single year, setting an inspiring example for her peers.
All student donors were honoured with medals, certificates, and T-shirts from the Red Ribbon Club, along with diaries and pens from Mera Yuva Bharat. Program officers Gurpreet Singh, Yashpal, Gurjeevan Singh, Jasvir Chand, and Davinder Monga were present to oversee the event, which highlighted the life-saving impact of voluntary blood donation.
