Fatehgarh Sahib. May 02, 2020: Dr. Sanjeev Kumar SDM Fatehgarh Sahib, who earned the reputation of “Massiah” of the people by his selfless untiring service towards the people during the COVID-19 threat and his team headed by Gurjinder Singh Tehsildar Fatehgarh Sahib were today honoured by the Alumni of Mata Gujri College Fatehgarh Sahib including senior officers, doctors etc and the representatives of approximately 15 NGOs of the area for the services rendered to the people during lock down. All the representatives urged the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary to specially honour and reward the SDM, so that the other officers may also be motivated.
Amarjeet Singh Cheema, President of Alumni and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa Representatives of NGOs said that SDM and his team have been working tirelessly since the lock down was announced with dedication round the clock. He managed to distribute cooked food and dry ration to the needy in a much planned manner by calling the meeting of all NGOs and donors and they were allotted the particular area of the town and rural area for serving the needy. He also donated approximately 1000 kits of dry ration from his own sources, besides this he donated two water dispensers to be installed at isolation wards, OOAT clinic and drug de-addiction center in civil hospital Fatehgarh Sahib on humanitarian ground. The supreme donation by the SDM is widely appreciated by all and it has become a source of inspiration for the other NGOs also as they have approached the SDM for any further donation.
They said that SDM also played a key role and led from front in providing ration, cooked food and essential commodities to the needy during lock down in planned way. He was also instrumental in launching a movement to honour the front line COVID warriors like Police, sanitation and health department. They said now he is supervising the wheat procurement process, which is going on smoothly and he is ensuring proper social distancing and other required formalities. They said such officers need special appreciation from the government as well as society, so that they may be encouraged further and become source of inspiration and example for others. They said they have done their duty and now demand from government to do the needful and recognise his services.
SDM Dr. Sanjeev Kumar said that he along with his team have been doing their duty assigned to them by Deputy Commissioner Amrit Kaur Gill as she is also very laborious and dedicated, so he along with his team is following her footsteps sincerely. He said that service to mankind is service to God and everyone should come forward to serve the needy. He said he has just motivated certain friends, donors and contributed from his own resources to serve the needy, which is their moral responsibility in the hour of crisis. He called upon all well to do to come forward to help the deprived section of society.
