Chandigarh, September 24, 2020: The state-wide bandh in Punjab called by farmers union to protest against the passing of the agricultural Bills and supported by political parties on September 25 is expected to be total given the fact that even the Congress-run Government of Punjab is backing the bandh.
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has also come out in support of the farmers’ call for the bandh by closing all its offices tiomorrow .
All shops, markets and other establishments will be closed and there would be no movement of public vehicles on the roads. Farmers are expected to block all major roads and rail lines which is expected to bring traffic to a standstill.
Shopkeepers have said that they will not get milk supply from Verka as vehicles delivering milk to shops will not ply. People have been advised not to travel and stock up on essentials.
Meanwhile, Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has appealed to farmers to strictly maintain law & order, & adhere to all Covid safety protocols during tomorrow’s Bandh. He said no FIRs will be registered for violation of Section 144 during protests.
