Health team faces tough time as Lohka village refused to give samples for Covid testing
Ferozepur, November 25, 2020: Residents of Lohka village here refused to give their samples to the health team visited on Wednesday terming it as a move to suppress the farmer’s agitation against the three controversial Farm Bills.
The team could not collect samples from Lohka village of the district and a lot of energy and time were wasted in convincing people to undergo tests. The samples for the detection of novel coronavirus were to be taken as a part of a survey.
There had been incidents of boycotting Covid-19 tests citing various reasons including having no trust in the results.
Sukhwant Singh Lohka, District Secretary and Balwinder Singh Zone President Zira said, today the health team was sent a second time by the health department for Covid testing and after about one-hour discussions, the team was returned without taking the samples for testing of Coronavirus.
The farmer leaders said, there is no do testing when the government has so far no treatment for Corona. It is only a move of the government that the villages which are active in the protest activities against the three Farm Laws may be sealed after testing for Corona. We will not allow such type of movement of the government. The health team was returned with the consent of the villagers.
Lohka informed that so far there is no Corona-positive patient in the village. Moreover, the health team members barring were not wearing the masks except one, as a precautionary measure under the medical protocols.
