ADC reviews Covid preparedness for Level-II and level-III patients by civil hospital
Administration is better geared up to tackle second wave of Covid – Vishesh Sarangal
Jalandhar, November 29- With the Covid cases have been started mounting again in Jalandhar, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Vishesh Sarangal on Sunday reviewed Covid preparedness by Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Civil Hospital for the level-II and level-III patients amid the apprehensions of Covid's second wave.
Chairing a meeting with health officials to discuss preparedness in Civil Hospital, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Vishesh Sarangal, who is also in-charge of tertiary hospitals of level-III, said the with the experiences learnt from the first wave of the Covid, we will be in a better position to tackle the surge.
He said that the detailed planning for next two months has been carried out. He said that in first wave, the entire civil hospital operated dedicatedly for Covid patients but now along with Covid facilities, services for the normal patients are also being offered here.
Additional Deputy Commissioner said every point including need of health infrastructure, required manpower, specialist doctors and others has been broadly discussed.
He said that the civil hospital has 56-ICU beds for the level-III Covid patients and work of oxygen generation plant has also been going on and would be over soon.
He told if need arises in the future, we would further augment the health infrastructure and depute more healthcare staff in the hospital.
Sarangal also lauded the role of Civil Hospital and its doctors in combating the contagion effectively in the first wave.
He said that the district administration was fully geared up and prepared to tackle any situation arising from the Covid-19 pandemic. He added that the district administration would leave no stone unturned to serve people in these trying situations.
Further, he urged people to observe all safety precautions that include wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, washing hands and others as adhering to these protocols, would help to manage the situation effectively.
Prominent among present in the meeting included SDM Dr Jai Inder Singh, Civil Surgeon Dr Gurinder Kaur Chawala, Medical Superintendent Mandeep Kaur Mangat, SMO Dr Kashmiri Lal, ICU head Dr Paramjit Singh and others.
