Admn holds meeting for Covid Vaccine distribution with representatives from WHO and UNDP Unit
Ferozepur, December 2, 2020: A special meeting was held under the tutelage of Deputy Commissioner, Gurpal Singh Chahal over making available the arrangements for Covid vaccine distribution with special presence of delegates - Surveillance Medical Officer from World Health Organization Unit Dr Mega Parkash, Coordinator Javew Kumar from United Nations Development Programme - UNDP and ADC(G), Rajdeep Kaur.
In fact, distributing vaccines needs careful preparation and has never been done before at pace presenting an unprecedented global challenge. It needs to be transparent to ensure that access is equitable and the citizens understand who will receive vaccines, and who won’t.
DC said, a comprehensive strategy for distribution of the vaccine to every person, its storage and cold chain etc has been made in order to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. He said that this vaccine would be given to the people under different phases for which a survey is being conducted by the health department.
Speaking on the occasion, Surveillance Medical Officer from the World Health Organization unit Dr. Mega Prakash said that the government has planned to make this Covid vaccine available to the people in four different phases.
He said that committees would be formed at different levels in this regard and three regional centers Amritsar, Hoshiarpur and Ferozepur have been set up in Punjab for the storage of this vaccine.
Dr.Mega Parkash said that the vaccine would be delivered to the surrounding districts from the regional centers. The trials of Covid-19 vaccine were underway and the vaccine would be delivered to every person on its supply.
On this occasion District Family and Health Welfare Officer Dr. Gurinderpal Singh, Program Manager Harish Kataria, Dr. Rajinder Manchanda etc. were present.
