Don't take lightly the Covid infection, must continue to follow precautionary measures: DC
Ferozepur, December 11, 2020: While Covid-19 cases being reported on a daily basis have been falling consistently since early October, there are concerns that the city could witness a second wave of infections as a slight increase in Corona cases have been noticed on the second day with reporting of 13 positive cases and one death, today. Earlier on Thursday, 14 positive cases and two deaths were reported.
As per the the latest report, till date, 71,899 samples were taken since the outbreak of coronavirus, out of which 67,187 were tested negative, 4,461 tested positive, 4,257 recovered from infection and number of people under medication in the district are only 65 active cases. The result of 257 samples are, however, awaited.
Due to Coronavirus, the total deaths in the district are 139 including one of today – one female of 92 years of Ferozshah near Talwandi Bhai.
A rise in cases are being seen after a long gap which may be due to the reduction of usage of masks and other Covid precautions day by day. The increase in cases has to be watched carefully over the coming weeks, said a senior official from the health department.
Making an appeal to the citizens, Deputy Commissioner, Gurpal Singh Chahal said, we should not take lightly the Covid infection as it has not been eradicated fully so far and there are still chances of its transmission. He further said the people must continue to maintain the medical protocol as a precautionary measure at least by wearing the masks, keeping social distancing at the crowded places and sanitizing hands from time to time.
