KMSC snap power supply to four Jio towers, online study to suffer
Ferozepur, December 25, 2020: While thousands of farmers are protesting at Delhi borders for withdrawal of 3-Farm Laws, despite justifications by the Central government as farmer-friendly, the farmer under the banner of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, Punjab, today snapped the power supply to the cellular transmission towers of Jio towers in Zira town, 35 km from Ferozepur.
The farmers are protesting against the 3-Farm Laws since October 23, which was started with rail-roko campaign and now at Delhi borders for the last one month. While the farmers are insisting to withdraw these laws, whereas the Central government after several rounds of talks is adamant to make any amendment after discussing across the table.
Mehal Singh Pannu, Ranjodh Singh, Sukhchain Singh and others from Pendu Mazdoor Union also joined KMSC in this protest.
Due to lockdown, the teachers had been taking the online classes and with disconnection of power supply to Jio towers, even some towers are shared with other service providers, will disturb the study schedule of the students.
Speaking to media persons, Sukhwant Singh Lohka, spokesman of KMSC said, the farmers have discontinued the power supply to four mobile towers of corporate houses to register our protest as these blacks laws have been made to benefit them.
He said, the farmers had earlier been protesting outside the petrol pumps, malls and stores and now the call to boycott Jio cellular service has been given.
Later in the day, educationists appealed not to disconnect the power supply to mobile towers due to examination time in schools and children are attending the classes online. Rather, an appeal may be made to the masses to port out their numbers from Jio to other service providers.
