January.13. 2021 - A group of lawyers of district Bar Association Fatehgarh Sahib led by Amardeep Singh Dharni former President of District Bar Association today burnt the copies of three contentious farm laws on the eve of Lohri as a mark of protest in the district court complex today and raised slogans against the Modi government. Addressing the media Dharni said that they celebrated the Lohri festival by burning the copies of the black farm laws enacted by the Modi Government just to express solidarity with striking farmers.
Answering a query about the Supreme Court judgment, he said that the Supreme Court should not act as mediator and the Supreme Court Judges should maintain the dignity of this temple of Justice. He said that farmers have already rejected the committee formed by the Supreme Court as all the members are pro farm laws and they had already expressed their views through the media. He said that the Union government is using all options to derail the farmer’s peaceful agitation and he said that lawyers will continue to support the cause of farmers.
Similarly on the eve of Lohri AAP volunteers led by Narinder Singh Tiwana Advocate burnt the copies of three farm laws and termed these laws as anti farmers and pro corporate. He also criticized the formation of a four member committee and said the Modi government managed its members in the committee, which the farmer organizations have already rejected. He said that AAP will fully support the farmer’s cause and will participate in tractor rallies on eve of Republic Day.
The party workers of SAD(A) also burnt the copies of farm laws in front of the DC office and raised slogans against the Modi government.
