80-year-old wife of protest martyr joins Kisan Morcha at Singhu Border
Reached at the agitation site few days after the death of husband

Singhu Border (Delhi), January 17, 2021: The spirit of the farmers sitting at the Kisan Morcha and the fight to save their lands have made them strong enough to overcome the biggest shocks in their lives. One more heart-breaking moment was witnessed at the Singhu Border when a 80-year-old woman, whose life partner passed away recently amid the on-going protest.
Jaspal Kaur, a resident of Sohag Heri village in Fatehgarh Sahib, said her husband, Harphool Singh, had joined the agitation at Delhi border from the very first day of 'Delhi Chalo Movement' on November 26.
Few days after living on the roads in chilly weather, Harphool Singh fall sick and returned to his village, where he passed away after two days on December 24, said Jaspal Kaur with her teary eyes.
"After performing the final rites of my husband at the village, I came at the agitation site to finish the pending fight, which my husband had started to save the future of our children. Now, I will not left this place until the farms laws are totally repealed and will continue to follow the path of Harphool Singh despite the doctors suggested me to take rest at home, “she added.
Jaspal Kaur now can be seen cooking food and making chapattis for the Langar with the other women. She could be sleeping in the warm blankets at her house presently but she decided to join the Kisan morcha being a true fighter, even her tears have not been wiped yet.
She keeps herself busy in 'sewa' throughout the day and also carrying the burden of sorrows following her husband's death. Jaspal Kaur, who has two sons and a daughter, said her whole family is surviving on agriculture and the Modi government is after grabbing their lands.
