Mohali, January 31, 2021: A group of social workers, intellectuals, advocates, and leaders sit on a hunger strike at the traffic lights of Phase 7 here on Saturday to support the farmers' agitation.
Narinder Singh Kang, Advocate Amardeep Kaur, Gagandeep Singh Bains, Ranjit Singh, Sohan Singh, Inderjit Singh, and Professor Mehar Singh Malhi began the hunger strike at 11 am at the divider of road and it was ended at 3 pm.
They were holding placards in their hands and chanting slogans against the central government for allegedly defaming the peaceful protesters of Kisan Morcha.
Narinder Singh Kang said, "The purpose of the hunger strike is to support our farmers. We feel they are like the mother of the nation, as they feed the nation. We are fighting for our nation's mother and our demands are - repeal of three farm laws, FIRs should be registered against the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) goons, who are attacking the farmers, and criminal cases registered against the innocent farmers should be quashed.
Advocate Amardeep Kaur said, "The violence in Delhi occurred because the government incited the mob. Secondly, now it is revealed that the people involved in the counter-protest at the Singhu border, were not locals as they were sent by RSS only. Also, it is shameful how the police became mute spectator during stone-pelting on farmers at Singhu Border."
