Chandigarh, January 31, 2021: Senior vice president of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and former member of parliament (MP) Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra today met the family of recently arrested youth Ranjit Singh, at Kajampur village in Nawanshahr. Ranjit Singh, arrested during a tractor parade organized by farmers on Republic Day, has been lodged in Tihar Jail.
Chandumajra said the Akali Dal would take legal action against all the persons arrested during the tractor parade. He said that the party was assuring all possible help to the families of the arrested persons by visiting their villages. "The youth are our future and we will not tolerate any injustice or torture with them," said Chandumajra.
He added the central government was using all sorts of acts to torpedo the agitation of farmers, who are fighting for their rights. He said today the whole country stood by the farmers to get the law repealed.
Former MP said that the move of the central government to sell the farmers of the country in the hands of rich corporate houses like Adani and Ambani would never be completed. In order to benefit a few corporate houses, the government was harassing the peaceful protesting farmers by misusing the government machinery and SAD strongly condemned these incidents, he added. "Akali Dal had always fought for the demands of the frmers and would continue to do so in future, " said Chandumajra, who was also accompanied by Halqa Incharge Jarnail Singh Wahid and other Akali workers.
