Mohali, February 9, 2021:
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today released the manifesto for upcoming elections of Mohali Municipal Corporation (MC) here. Former MP and senior vice-president of SAD, Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra announced 25 key points of their manifesto, which has a title ‘Mohali nu chamkana hai, number one banana hai’. He claimed that SAD was able to fulfill all the promises made to the people so far. “We have done what we had said and we will do what we are saying. Our target is to make Mohali as top city in country in terms of sanitation and beauty. We will provide more facilities in Mohali than Chandigarh. Also, the major development in Mohali including international airport and stadiums, underground power lines and gas pipeline, took place during the tenure of SAD,” said Chandumajra.
Sharing the agendas of manifesto, Chandumajra said there are so many dream projects of SAD which are already included in the manifesto and there is a proper route map for these projects. He said, for the protection and safety of all citizens and especially women, we will install CCTV cameras in complete MC area. A LAC (Local Area Committee) comprising of doctors, ex-army men, teachers, advocates, retired civil officers and journalists, will be formed to monitor the MC developmental activities in the city. Also, we will fully cover the dirty nullah that passes through the city, said SAD vice president.
The aim of SAD is to make the city ‘wire-free’ by putting all the power lines underground. And, to increase the parking space, we will use the underground area of parks for making provisions for underground parking, he said.
Chandumajra added that a long pending demand of city residents is public transport (local bus service) and it will be fulfilled soon. The SAD will also build cycle tracks in city plus public cycle sharing system will be provided. “We will install new fire stations, solar panels to reduce power output and water boosters to increase the water pressure. Dog pounds will be made for stray dogs. Also, the membership fee of all sports complexes will be cut down by 50 per cent, said the ex-MP.
the ex-MP slammed the health minister Balbir Singh Sidhu and said, "Sidhu stopped many important projects of SAD by using his power. The congress minister owns gas agencies as a result of which he stopped the gas pipeline project of Mohali."
On asking about the mayor face, Chandumajra said the SAD has not decided any mayor face yet and it will be decided later by the councilors.
