Chandigarh, February 10, 2021:
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Sunil Jakhar today slammed Aam Aadmi Punjab co-in-charge Raghav Chadha for spreading fake propaganda against the Congress party regarding the contract farming bill in Punjab. Addressing the media persons at Punjab Bhawan here, Jakhar said that AAP is spreading the news nowadays that the Congress had supported the contract farming bill passed by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) government in 2013. He clarified that the Congress party had opposed the contract farming bill in the Vidhan Sabha and was totally against the bill. Jakhar also showed a news channel based video footage of Vidhan Sabha session dated March 25, 2013, where the then chief minister Prakash Singh Badal officially passed the contract farming bill and Congress had walked out from the session by blaming on SAD that the 16 bills were passed in the house without any debate. Jakhar also claimed that he has the detailed written proceedings of the same session. In the same connection, nine MLAs of Congress were suspended for the whole Vidhan Sabha session and also FIRs were registered against them, said the former MP.
"The AAP is now totally based on lie and propaganda. The condition of AAP in Punjab right now is like a procession, which has no bridegroom. Their intentions towards Punjab always remained mean. Raghav Chadha is now spreading false information about our party and blaming me and Captain Amarinder Singh without any facts. Secondly, Chadha’s lie was also exposed after he claimed that Amrik Singh Micky, who was present at the Red Fort during republic day violence, has no connection with AAP. But everyone can see Amrik Singh's images and videos with AAP in-charge Jarnail Singh and Bhagwant Mann," he said while calling AAP as the second team of BJP. Jakhar also said that Raghav Chadha should apologize to the Punjab CM.
Targeting the SAD, BJP, and Congress over the Contract Farming Act made during 2013 in the Punjab Assembly, Raghav Chadha has recently stated that all the three parties had colluded and taken anti-farmer decisions.
On the issue of attacks on Punjab BJP president Ashwini Sharma, Jakhar appealed to the people that violence is not the right way of expressing your anger. He said, "We condemn the way of violence to target any politician. The people of Punjab should adopt a democratic way to object against BJP. We will provide full security to BJP workers if they approach us. By leveling allegations on Congress party for these attacks, Ashwini Sharma can't mislead the farmers. The Congress is not behind these attacks, and they are the common people who are now fed up of BJP."
Jakhar also openly invited Ashwini Sharma to debate with him in Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana on three farm laws at any time.
