Police stage flag march in Fatehgarh Sahib ahead of civic body polls

Fatehgarh Sahib. February 10, 2021: To boost confidence among the people ahead of polling for civic body elections of Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib, Mandi Gobindgarh, Amloh, Bassi Pathana and Khamano Municipal Councils in the district, the police took out flag marches in all the towns of the District.
Police teams consisting of police personnel, para military forces and home guards led by SP rank officers passed through the main bazaars of the towns and also visited the sensitive areas.
Addressing the media Amrit Kaur Gill Deputy Commissioner and Amneet Kondal SSP said that they have visited all the sensitive and most sensitive declared polling booths in all the towns of the district and besides this police parties are taking out flag marches and round the clock patrolling will be ensured. They said that the civic body elections will be conducted in a free and fair manner peacefully. They said that no one will be allowed to disturb the peace whosoever he may be. They said that fool proof security will be ensured and there is nothing to worry for the candidates and voters.
They warned the miscreants that if anyone tried to disrupt the polling process he will not be spared and dealt severely. They called upon all the political parties to control their workers and to maintain peace and code of conduct.
Meanwhile the protest of BJP candidates and leaders is continuing. Last night Dr. Harbans Lal former Minister and BJP leader was gheraoed in Aman Colony of Sirhind by the residents of the ward particularly by women and slogans were raised against Modi government and they were forced to leave the colony immediately and directed not to come for seeking votes in the area.
Similarly Varinder Kaur BJP candidate from ward number 17 from Sirhind lodged a complaint with SHO Fatehgarh Sahib that some so called farmers got his election office closed forcibly and raised slogans against her.
Farmers also took out a march against SAD(B) candidate of ward number 16 and his wife candidate of ward number 18 for committing fraud to the tune of rs.4.5 Crore with the farmers and government. They alleged he is not returning their amount and urged Sukhbir Badal not to nominate such anti social elements for elections.
