Mohali, February 13, 2021:
A day before the polling of local body elections in Mohali, around 50-60 people attacked the office of Sukhdev Singh Patwari in Sector 70 here on Saturday evening.
Sukhdev Patwari, a candidate of Azad Group led by former mayor Kulwant Singh, alleged that the Shiromani Akali Dal leader, Gurmeet Shyampuri, along with his companions attacked his office and created a ruckus. "I was present at my office with my wife. The office of Shyampuri is just 50 meters away from my office. Shyampuri and Nirmal Singh along with 50-60 youth came in front of my office and started creating drama. After that, they attacked my office. The furniture and window panes of the office were shattered by the miscreants. When the people from the neighboring area gathered, they fled from the spot. They also took our mobile phone before leaving the spot, but the phone was later recovered from a nearby spot. I have submitted a complaint to the police in this regard, " said Sukhdev Singh Patwari.
Inspector Ashok Kumar of Mataur police station said, "We are investigating the matter. The complainant has been received and strict action will be taken against the miscreants."
On the other side, Shyampuri denied the allegations and said, "I am not even aware of this incident. I was present at my house and my phone's location can prove it very well. No one from our party attacked the office of Patwari. I challenge him to prove my presence in this alleged attack."
