Congress sweeps MC polls in Fatehgarh Sahib, leads in all 4 councils

Fatehgarh Sahib, February 17, 2021: Congress party swept the polls in Fatehgarh Sahib district as party candidates won in all the four Municipal Councils. In Mandi Gobindgarh Municipal Council one of the richest councils of the State Congress won 19 wards out of 29, whereas BJP could not open its account SAD(B) won on 4 seats, AAP got 2 seats, and independents won on 4 seats. Kaka Randeep Singh MLA Amloh termed it the victory of the people and assured full development in the town.
In Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib District headquarter Municipal Council 19 Congress candidates under the leadership of MLA Kuljit Nagra won in their wards. BJP failed to open its account, AAP replaced it with SAD(B) in most of the wards AAP candidates won in 3 wards, whereas SAD(B) managed to open an account by winning only one seat. MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra assured record development in the town and said the town will be divided into sectors instead of wards in the future, so that the residents may get a permanent address. He administered an oath to newly elected councilors not to indulge in corrupt practices.
In Bassi Pathana Municipal Council Congress candidates led by Gurpreet Singh, GP MLA Bassi Pathana won on seats out of 15, SAD(B) won on 2 seats, AAP on one seat, and independent one on 3 seats.
In Khamano Nagar Panchayat Congress could win only 5 seats out of 13 seats, Independents won on 6 seats considered to be Congress rebels, SAD(B) could manage only one seat and BSP also opened the account by winning one seat.
Amrit Kaur Gill Deputy Commissioner and Amneet Kondal SSP congratulated all the winners and thanked all the parties and voters for maintaining peace during the polling process. They said it is highly appreciable that no untoward incident was reported from any booth in the district.
