PSPCL Enforcement detects massive power theft in Ludhiana, FIR registered
Ludhiana, February 23, 2021: Acting swiftly on a tip off, Enforcement teams of PSPCL lead by Sr. XEN/Enforcement 3, Jalandhar caught a big Power Theft by an Industrial Consumer in the Mahavir Jain Colony of Focal Point, Ludhiana.
The consumer had connected heavy load of 45 KW through a power cable of 20 meters length direct from the distribution transformer.
The consumer running a Garment manufacturing unit has been penalised for Rs. 27 Lakhs on account of power theft. FIR under section 135 of Indian Electricity Act 2003 has been registered against the consumer.
Involvement of local PSPCL staff in the power theft is being probed said Jasbir Singh, CE/Enforcement, PSPCL. Any official found involved shall attract strict disciplinary proceedings, he further added. Venu Parsad, IAS, CMD of PSPCL has already given clear direction to the Enforcement wing for zero tolerance of Power Theft & Corruption Cases.
